There has been a business in operation where Main Street crosses the railroad in Cecilia since 1937.

It began as Cecilia Garage & Coal Company and became Shumate Equipment a few years later.

In 1947, Harold Lewis started working there at the age of 21, after returning from the Merchant Marines and on the advice of his wife. In 1964, he bought the business and changed the name to Lewis Equipment.

For 40 years, Harold and his partner, Louis Crosier, worked hand-in-hand selling, repairing, and restoring tractors. And 70 years to the day after he started working for Fred Erwin & Guy Shumate, Harold Lewis retired from Cecilia Tractor Service.

Now, we work to live up to the legacy of hard work and honest business that has been passed down through the building for going on a century, and we hope you’ll trust us to serve your tractor needs.
